What is MemCom?
MemCom is responsible for the Open House and the New Member Experience. Basically, MemCom is there to ease the transition from potential member to new member, and from new member to community member. We host community events and answer questions and offer resources for new and existing members.
Our goals are to:
- Smooth the transition from potential member to new member and from new member to community member
- Make LM a more welcoming and accessible space
- Provide accurate and up-to-date information to guests and new members
- Build up and strengthen the LM Community

- Onboarding
- Design and update the LM Onboarding and Orientation packet that is given to all new members.
- Design and implement the Onboarding Procedure that all new members go through
- Train volunteers to run this Onboarding
- Member Experience
- Make joining and participating in LM as easy as possible
- Host community-building events and provide opportunities for members to participate in member inreach events.
- Create surveys and gather information to improve the LM experience
- Open House and Tour
- Run Open House efficiently
- Train volunteers to host Open House and outfit them with the resources to give tours and do signups
- Schedule Open House hosts and make sure we always have a contingent of trained volunteers at every Open House event
- Accuracy of Information
- Make sure all publicly posted information is accurate and up to date
- Help keep the website and other information portals accurate and up to date
- Respond to questions from the online contact form, email, and phone
