Here are the rules, regulations, operations and philosophy that we use to keep Notion functional and accurate. Please familiarize yourself with this information before starting to use Notion, and follow these rules whenever you are here.
Philosophy
Notion is meant to be a flexible and adaptable resource. It should always be kept up to date, but is also meant as a research resource, not the end all be all of facts for Lowell Makes. Please edit with care and caution. Many pages in Notion are available to the public so make sure you keep Notion a safe space for all visitors and be air on the side of caution when publishing sensitive or private information

Rules
- Only post information you know to be true and accurate
- Do not delete pages. If entire sections of information need to be removed, place them in the Archive. This will prevent the accidental deletion of important information
- Do not post private or sensitive information. This is a public facing resource, viewable by the entire internet. Post accordingly.
- Get approval before inviting guest editors.
- Do not add new members to the workspace.
- Do not change the permissions on any pages. Don’t touch the Share menu without pre-approval.
Guidelines
- Don’t duplicate information. Link whenever possible! This keeps us from having to edit information in multiple locations. Use the “link to page” and “link to block” options to tie information together within Notion
- Link to external documents whenever possible. Don’t repeat information that is contained in external documents. Instead, link the document to Notion. (Make sure it is publicly viewable)
- Be consistent with style and layout. It’s okay for pages to be unique, but we want Notion to feel like a cohesive unit of information. Try not to diverge too much from what the rest of the database looks like.
- Do not substantially rearrange information. This can mess with editing permissions and is confusing. If you have thoughts about how the info contained here should be arranged, get approval before making substantial changes
Things you should know
- All changes are tracked and tied to a login. Abuses of editing privileges will result in removal of those privileges
